The Hotpoint Electric Heating Company was formed in 1911 and now Hotpoint is a household name for kitchen appliances such as dishwashers, fridge freezers and washing machine.

In 1985, Merloni acquired Indesit, were competitors in Italy at that time, Merloni, but not European presence had won Indesit. In 2005 Merloni renamed Indesit Company, as Indesit was the most recognizable brand under its control.

Indesit Company had a 14% slice of the market for white goods in 2007. This consists of such items as washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and built in too many products. Ovens, hobs and hoods are a big part of this market now, especially with the European trend of build-in kitchens increasingly popular.
